Recently, two Kapuso personalities took to social media to address the controversy surrounding the distribution of alleged food stubs during the GMA Gala 2023 event.
On Monday, July 24, Kapuso journalist Joseph Morong took to Twitter to clarify the real story of the controversial meal stub.
According to him, the stubs provided to the guests were actually table number assignments and not meal stubs, contrary to what had been circulating on social media. “FACT: What meal stub? That’s for seat numbers for different departments LOL #GMAGala2023 #GmaGalaNight2023″

Following suit, Kapuso head writer and creative consultant Suzette Doctolero also used Twitter to refute the meal stub rumors.
In her tweet, also on Monday, July 24, Doctolero stated that there were no food stubs because the 5-course meals were directly served at the guest tables. She echoed Morong’s explanation that the stubs given to the guests were merely tickets for table assignments.
“Walang food stub. . Table assignmemt ticket yun. Para alam ng guest kung saan ang mesa niya. Libo po yata ang umattend kasi. The 5-course meal was served at the table. Good pm everyoneeeee! (Mga ka X na yata ang tawagan natin. Papalitan na kasi ni Musk ang ibon ng X)”

It appears that the issue originated from a tweet by the Twitter parody account @altcristyfermin on Saturday, July 22.
The tweet featured a video of Joshua Garcia receiving a small stub with the caption “Tignan: Joshua Garcia nag claim ng Food stub.”

The tweet quickly gained traction as other Twitter accounts shared the same information about the gala.
