Joey de Leon proudly celebrated EAT’s leadership in the noontime show ratings, emphasizing their originality and creativity.
In an Instagram post, he shared the Nielsen NUTAM overnight ratings from July 22, showing that EAT achieved 4.94% ratings, surpassing its competitors, including It’s Showtime.
Joey’s message seemed directed at EAT’s critics, as he stated, “Gumawa hindi gumaya! Lumikha hindi kamukha!” This phrase reflects their commitment to creating unique and original content, rather than imitating others.

The competition between EAT and its closest competitor intensified when the latter was accused of copying ideas from its former creative team, who left on May 31, 2023. However, TAPE Inc., the production company behind Eat Bulaga, defended themselves, asserting that they legally owned the show’s title and segments.
On July 19, Eat Bulaga briefly surpassed EAT in the ratings, prompting speculation about strategic moves to maintain their lead.
EAT introduced a new segment called ‘Gimme 5: Laro ng mga Henyo,’ their own version of Pinoy Henyo, on July 20, which some observers believed was a response to maintain their ratings position.
