On the June 27 episode of ‘Showbiz Now Na!,’ hosts Cristy Fermin, Romel Chika, and Wendell Alvarez discussed the recent buzz in noontime programming.
Starting July 1, ‘It’s Showtime’ officially began its broadcast on GTV and TVJ’s ‘E.A.T.’ started airing on TV5. This was after TVJ left TAPE Inc. and transferred to TV5 for a show that still runs on noontime. This pushed ‘It’s Showtime’ to transfer to GMA’s GTV, also to continue its run on a noontime slot.
Fermin could not comprehend the actions of GMA Network, considering that they are also currently housing TAPE Inc.’s ‘Eat Bulaga!’
“Ang dami pong kumukwestiyon, bakit daw po pumayag ang mga ehekutibo at nagpapatakbo ng GMA-7 na tanggapin ang ‘It’s Showtime’ sa kanilang istasyon,” Fermin said.
Alvarez also said that if he were one of the executives of GMA Network, he would accept ‘It’s Showtime’ on a different timeslot instead of the noontime slot.
He said, “Tatanggapin ko pero hindi sa ganong oras din.”
Chika joined in by saying that the revamped ‘Eat Bulaga!’ will eventually be at a disadvantage because of their additional competition.
He said, “At tsaka ang panget pa dun, suffer yung fake ‘Eat Bulaga!’ Alam naman natin nagsisimula sila tapos may kalaban pa sila.”
Fermin said that ‘It’s Showtime‘ and the revamped ‘Eat Bulaga!’ will continue to fight hard for ratings.
“Yung mga susunod, yun siguro and ‘It’s Showtime’ at saka yung hindi lehitimong ‘Eat Bulaga!’ sila ang magsasalpukan ngayon. Labu-labo no,” she added.
Fermin shifted to discussing the reaction of TAPE Inc.’s owner, the Jalosjos family, regarding the transfer of ‘It’s Showtime’ to GTV.
Alvarez said that TAPE Inc. will face difficulties with the addition of new competition.
He said, “Oo nanganganib na sila kase siempre, hindi lang pala Tito, Vic, and Joey ang katapat natin. Ang katapat pala natin yung sa kabilang bakod lang, yung It’s Showtime.”
Fermin then said that the Jalosjos family did not expect to have a competition inside GMA Network.
“Hindi mo aakalain talaga na yung parang naganap na regodon regodon, may inside job,” she said.
Fermin further related the situation to a cockfight, “Hindi aakalain siguro ng mga Jalosjos na ‘Eh hindi naman pala Tito, Vic, and Joey ang kalaban natin eh, dito pala mismo sa loob ng ating bakuran may ipinangsabong sa atin.”
Alvarez thought that the Jalosjos family might be feeling ‘used’ and ‘deceived’ in the setup. “Ano siguro sabihin ng Jalosjos? parang ‘ginamit lang kame’.”
Fermin added, “Naisahan kami.”
Despite the buzz created by the issue, TAPE Inc. and the Jalosjos family remain silent regarding the presence of ‘It’s Showtime’ on GMA Network’s noontime programming.
