On July 2, celebrity couple Sarah Geronimo and Matteo Guidicelli detailed how they founded G Productions and G Studios.
At the media event for ‘Sarah G Under The Sun,’ Geronimo explained that she came up with the idea of setting up G Productions after observing the untapped potential of new artists.
“Nag-usap po yata kami mag-asawa, sabi ko, ‘Love, parang may mga nakikitaan kami ng mga potential sa mga artist na parang you feel na kulang ng push, di ba Love?’ Itong artistang ‘to hindi napu-push masyado, hindi nama-maximize ‘yung kaniyang ano–‘yung kaniyang talento or capabilities niya as an artist.”
She also noted how her mindset changed from being an artist to someone involved in productions.
“And ako rin po, may mga makikita ako, may maririnig akong music na io-offer po sa akin pero mayroon akong maiisip na certain artist na parang mas bagay ito sa artist na ‘to. So parang sabi ko, nice din in the future makapag-hindi naman manage, but maging involved din tayo sa production ng kung ano mang project.”
Guidicelli considers their new business their ‘baby,’ recounting how they came up with G Productions amid the pandemic.
“So, G Productions is our baby project. It all started during the pandemic, naaalala ninyo pa ba noong pandemic times, we we’re all shooting by ourselves at home, hindi tayo pwedeng lumabas, so sa bahay lang tayo nagsho-shoot-shoot. So sabi ko, ‘Love gawa nga tayo ng production company, G Productions.’ Tapos tawanan lang.”
He then revealed their collaboration with Viva for Sarah Geronimo’s upcoming concert on July 7.
“Then afterward, we took it seriously. And ‘yun G Productions is here. We were co-producing projects with Viva, of course, with my management, for two years-three years. So Sarah’s music videos, concerts, this coming July 7, sana makapunta kayo sa Araneta Coliseum.”
Guidicelli then discussed how Geronimo has total creative control and freedom with their business venture.
“We’re really encouraging Sarah na this is hers, she’s the president of G Productions, and she has the creative control in doing what she wants to do.”
He also maintained Geronimo’s push for collaborations and uplifting new Filipino music artists.
“Yes–definitely, Sarah’s all about collaboration and lifting Filipino artists– kumbaga. If you hear her new songs, these are all from new artists, new Filipino artists. Kasi she’s like, ‘Love ang laki-laki ng K-Pop. Why can’t Filipino artists get bigger?’ Because–talagang it’s her goal talaga to push Filipino artists.”
Aside from G Productions, they also recently launched G Studios, their in-house studio in Alabang.
“So that’s G Productions, and then G Studios, which is our physical studio, we’re opening at the end of July. So kung gusto ninyong mag-sho-shooting. Doon po tayo sa G Studios sa Alabang. So opening July,” said Guidicelli.
“Wala po kasing studio sa Alabang eh. Eh marami tayong kaibigan from the industry na who live from the South,” Geronimo added.
Aside from their latest venture, Geronimo joined Guidicelli as part of Sun Life Philippines’ latest campaign, wherein the couple top-bills the insurance company’s thematic video underscoring its promise of being a ‘Partner for Life.’
The couple co-created the video with Sun Life, which shows how they support each other as life partners. The video will be available via national television and on @SunLifePH through Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.
Geronimo also voiced Sun Life’s newest jingle, ‘Kasa-Kasama,’ with fellow Sun Life Ambassador Iñigo Pascual who co-wrote the song. Currently, Sun Life Philippines has Geronimo, Guidicelli, Piolo Pascual, Iñigo, and Donny Pangilinan as their ambassadors.
