Veteran actress and long-time Marcos loyalist, Elizabeth Oropesa, recently revealed that she no longer considers herself a supporter of the Marcos family.
This decision came after she faced intense criticism and backlash from fellow Marcos loyalists on social media.
In an emotional open letter shared on her Facebook page on Wednesday, July 26, “La Oro,” expressed her disappointment with someone she referred to as “Sir” (presumably President Marcos Jr). The online bashing from other Marcos supporters prompted her to voice her feelings and call out those who attacked her, labeling them as cowards.
While Oropesa emphasized her continued respect for the individual she alluded to, she made it clear that she can no longer be associated with the label of being a Marcos loyalist.
“Hayaan nyo po. Husto na ako. Hindi naman kayo Dios. Hindi nakasalalay sa inyo ang kaluluwa ko.
Gumagalang parin, Hindi na Marcos Loyalist, Elizabeth Oropesa.”

This recent development follows a previous emotional outburst on social media, which has since been deleted, where Oropesa expressed her resentment towards the President for seemingly neglecting what she deemed as “true Marcos loyalists” and instead giving attention to political opportunists. She also criticized the person she referred to for valuing others over their long-time supporters.
Before making this announcement, Oropesa was well-known for her staunch support of the Marcos family. She had passionately advocated for the Marcoses for 37 years, even claiming to have endured abduction and torture at the hands of enemies due to her loyalty. During the last presidential race, she actively campaigned for the son of the late President Marcos.
