TAPE Inc.’s ‘Eat Bulaga’ is under great pressure as its TV airing lifespan is in question.
After losing sponsors and advertisements for a month following the departure of the original hosts, will the ‘revamped’ ‘Eat Bulaga’ survive another month of low TV ratings?
Cristy Fermin, host of the showbiz-oriented commentary live radio talk show Cristy FerMinute, said in her July 6 episode, “Kung pride po ang paiikutin, mayaman ang mga Jalosjos. Kayang-kaya sumugal, kayang-kaya pang magpakawala ng ilan pang milyones, wag lang maisanla ang kanilang kahihiyan sa publiko?”
“Pero gaano po katotoo na hanggang katapusan nalang po ng Hulyo ang programa niyo, ang hindi lehitimong Eat Bulaga?” Fermin added.
Both ‘It’s Showtime’ and ‘E.A.T’ aired simultaneously on July 1, with the former having its pilot episode on GTV and the latter on TV5. This happened after TVJ left TAPE Inc. and moved to TV5 for a time slot that was then occupied by ‘It’s Showtime.’
This prompted ‘It’s Showtime’ to transfer to GMA’s GTV to continue its run in the noontime slot. GMA Network is currently also housing TAPE Inc.’s ‘Eat Bulaga!’
According to Fermin,“Kunwari negosyante ka, alam mo ang pasok at labas ng iyong ROI (return of investment). Kapag alam mo na ang sinusugal mo sa isang negosyo ay hindi compensated ng pumasok, isasakripisyo mo yan eh, dun ka sa kumikita.
“Pwede nila ito i-deny, pwede ngang siraan tayo ng mga host,” she clarified.
On the simultaneous airing of the three noontime shows on July 1, TVJ’s ‘E.A.T.’ emerged supreme as it drew more than 530,000 combined live viewers. ‘It’s Showtime,’ on the other hand, broke its own record when it soared to over 325,000 viewers on the same platforms. However, TAPE Inc’s ‘Eat Bulaga!’ struggled to draw even at least 2,000 live concurrent viewers.
