On June 26, Kapuso host Drew Arellano revealed the secret behind the longevity of ‘Biyahe ni Drew.’
At the media conference for the 10th anniversary of ‘Biyahe ni Drew,’ Arellano joked that he ‘felt old’ after realizing they already had 500+ episodes in the Kapuso travel show.
“Sometimes I feel old because when you get to realize, when you realize na ilang years na naming ginagawa ‘to, tapos nakita ko kanina na it popped up na 500+ episodes na pala ang Biyahe ni Drew, you know, yes you feel old but at the same time you feel very blessed.”
He then shared how he remains thankful for the fulfilling experience despite the challenges of mounting a travel show.
“Because even though you know some shoots are tiring, it’s always fulfilling. There’s nothing like having a different experience every week. So ang laking bagay ‘yun.
“And I always–even though may mga mahirap na– sometimes may puyat, whatever challenges comes our way during the shoot, parati kong iniisip na we’re still blessed pa rin because hindi kami stuck sa office job. Pasensya na sa mga may office job.”
He then acknowledged how fortunate he is to host a highly coveted job.
“But you know, it’s still a ‘cool feeling’ to host a travel show, and I think [a lot of] people would kill to take my place as a [travel show] host.”
He also hinted at the upcoming 10th anniversary special for ‘Biyahe ni Drew’ in which their team would feature travel destinations in South Korea.
“I think hindi natin pwedeng hindi banggitin that there is really such a K-Pop craze, eh, anything Korean, and at the same time, we’ve never featured that side of Korea before. Lalo na’t one whole episode of K-Pop, K-Drama, you know what I mean. It’s such a phenomenon.
“And I think one of our goals naman as a travel show is to let the viewers also have the chance to experience such a thing. And what we experienced in South Korea, lalo na– first Ep kasi focusing on K-Pop, K-Drama, second Ep is the adventure side.”
Arellano celerated the 10th anniversary of ‘Biyahe ni Drew’ with back-to-back specials in South Korea airing this July 2 and July 9 on GTV.
Joining Arellano is his wife Iya Villania-Arellano in exploring various travel destinations in South Korea, such as the popular BTS bus stop and a film location of the hit K-drama series ‘Goblin.’ The Kapuso couple would also feature the culture and food while showing wonders and hidden gems in the country.
