On June 27, Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco considered the ‘Love The Philippines’ campaign a call to action for Filipinos.
At the media event ‘Love The Philippines’, which LionhearTV covered, Frasco emphasized how their campaign aimed to remind Filipinos of the nation’s beauty, value, and virtue.
“More than a campaign, but a call to action, for every Filipino citizen to remember the beauty of our country, [and] to honor our past. And to look forward to the future armed with the virtues, the values of being a Filipino, and [armed] with the knowledge of how blessed we are as a nation.”
She then highlighted how DOT and the Marcos administration sustained efforts to promote Philippine tourism.
“Since the beginning of the Marcos administration, we have sustained efforts to promote the Philippines by participating in no less than 23 international expos /all over the world/ and collaborating with the Tourism Promotions Board /as well as/ our foreign offices.
“We have also tried to sustain /interest domestically/ by putting up expos/ regionally that attempt to bring attention to places that are not/ necessarily /highlighted in the typical branding campaigns. And that is why we launched the Mindanao Tourism Expo, the Northern Luzon Expo, as well as, very recently, the Central Philippines Tourism Expo.”
She then hinted at their plans to continue efforts to promote tourism locally and internationally.
“What you can expect is–that the call to action to ‘Love the Philippines’ will continue in every region, every province, every city, and municipality in the Philippines and the jurisdiction where the DOT has a–and would like to have a presence all over the world.”
She also expressed gratitude to President Marcos for affirming the branding campaign.
“We’re also very grateful to our President, Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr, for affirming the branding campaign to the Department of Tourism and giving his [full] and all out support even as we continue to express our gratitude for his prioritization of tourism. We sincerely hope for the [support] of our fellow Filipinos and to invoke a sense private place and love of country. And that is [truly] the intention behind Love The Philippines.”
As for the ‘Love The Philippines’ campaign, Frasco, alongside President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., unveiled the tourism campaign to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of the Department of Tourism (DOT) at the Manila Hotel on Tuesday (June 27).
According to data, the Philippines recorded 2,641,993 tourists from January 1 to June 26, 2023. As of this writing, the country is getting closer to surpassing the 2.65 million recorded arrivals from 2022.
