Exciting changes are coming to GMA’s hit comedy show, ‘Bubble Gang,’ as it gears up for a new timeslot on Sundays at 6 p.m. starting July 9.
The decision to move to an earlier slot was driven by the network’s desire to expand the show’s reach and provide entertainment to a broader audience.
Last June 30, during a media conference, GMA Network executive Lilibeth Rasonable, explained, “We want to move it to an earlier timeslot, on a Sunday, para mas madaming maka-enjoy sa ibibigay na entertainment ng Bubble Gang.”
Reinvention is also a pivotal factor behind the shift in the show’s timeslot. As Lilibeth Rasonable aptly put it, “We give it a new face, syempre, kasi diba habang tumatagal you always have to reinvent yourself, especially for a program that has lasted this long.”
One of the show’s main stars, Michael V, shares Lilibeth Rasonable’s vision. He expressed his agreement, saying, “For the longest time we’ve been airing on Sunday nights, this time around mas ano to, mas wholesome yung timeslot, which is challenging for us.”
The shift to a more family-friendly slot requires careful consideration of the content they produce, keeping in mind the diverse audience they now aim to entertain.
Director Frasco Mortiz, in discussing the show’s direction, highlights the importance of staying relevant in the age of social media.
“We made sure na dapat ‘yung mga topics na ginagawa namin…relatable sa mas malaking audience…we’re pushing na mas maging relevant ‘yung show by focusing on topics na talagang mae-engage ‘yung mga tao,” he said.
While the show adapts to the earlier time slot and strives for wider appeal, Michael V assures fans that ‘Bubble Gang’ will still retain its signature charm and humor. He recalled how the show had been labeled as ‘adult-themed’ due to its late timeslot, a reputation they embraced for a long time.
However, Michael V clarified that the show has always featured wholesome characters like Tata Lino and Bonggang Bonggang Bongbong and believes adjusting to the new timeslot will not be an issue.
