On June 29, Viva artist Ataska Mercado expressed excitement about taking on her first role with Vivamax.
At the media conference for ‘Bugaw,’ Mercardo stated that she got motivated to take on the project because of Director Yam Laranas.
“Siyempre since it’s my first Vivamax movie, I was a bit nervous, pero mas excited ako than nervous. Kasi since nalaman ko po ‘yung title ng film, nalaman ko din na si Direk Yam ‘yung magdi-direk, and I’m such a huge fan of his, you know, no matter what title ‘yung palabas po namin, na-excite po talaga ako kasi si Direk Yam ‘yung director namin.”
She then shared how hosting Vivamax press cons helped her get interested in doing a film for Vivamax.
“Actually, before, ako din po ‘yung nagho-host ng mga presscons ng Vivamax, so kami po ni Ate Jean ‘yung nagho-host. Actually, that’s one of the reasons why I got like–nagka-interest ako to pursue Vivamax. Kasi me, I really love acting so much and when I got to know the actors and ‘yung mga directors, to presscons, parang na-inspire ako sa kanila na they really love what they’re doing and they’re really passionate about this and I want to try it din.”
When asked about her parents’ reaction, Mercado disclosed that they initially had apprehensions about her career move, but they have remained supportive of her.
“Reaction ng parents ko, they weren’t 100% G sa aking decision. Pero, in-explain ko naman why I wanted to make this parang career move. And noong na-explain ko naman po sa kanila, they were very understanding and supportive. And I love them very much, they support me very much, and I’m really happy.
“They trust me naman, and they also trust Viva, kasi Viva has been my home for eight years so ayun.”
The Vivamax film ‘Bugaw’ stars Jay Manalo, Alexa Ocampo, Mercado, and Clifford Pusing.
Under the direction of Yam Laranas, ‘Bugaw’ streams on Vivamax starting July 7.
