On July 3, new Viva artist Atasha Muhlach detailed her experience of having celebrities Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzales as parents.
During the media event for her contract signing with Viva Artist Agency at the Viva Cafe in Cubao, Quezon City, Muhlach said she looks up to her parents, citing that they gave her and her brother a ‘normal’ life.
“I wouldn’t say it’s hard. If anything–actually–I really look up to them, and growing up, it didn’t feel like that. We had a very normal childhood, they made sure that we experienced a ‘normal’ life, ‘normal’ school, playing sports, and even my friends and the people around me, were never treated as such.”
She also recounted fond childhood memories with her brother in Batangas.
“And so, because growing up, we grew up in the province, in Batangas. So we really got to experience all these things. Me and my brother would play with the toys, like Jackstones, [and] we’d get the color chicks.”
Muhlach noted that they only observed the changes when they started attending events with their parents.
“And so we never really felt different until recently when we got older, and we started noticing these things, like when they would take us to the premiere night. I was like, ‘Woah, this is what it’s like.'”
She also considered her showbiz heritage an inspiration rather than a pressure.
“Of course, I do admire them, but I wouldn’t say pressured. If anything, I’m actually just encouraged to be, at least, somewhat like them. And to really take their guidance and see how far I could go with this industry.”
She also cited the advantage of having parents who worked in the showbiz industry for years.
“In terms of advantage–it’s more [so] of getting advice from my parents because they have been in this industry. [And] they advised me on [how to] approach roles and lines and [how to] handle situations.Â
“But in terms of disadvantages–like I said, I don’t see it as more [so] of a [disadvantage,] but the inspiration that encourages me and makes me want to learn.”
Muhlach is the twin daughter of veteran actor Aga Muhlach and beauty queen Charlene Gonzales. Her twin brother is Andres.
Muhlach initially focused on her studies and finished business school in Nottingham, United Kingdom, as part of her parents’ wishes before she entered showbiz.Â
She has formally signed with the Viva Artist Agency to begin her career in the Philippine Entertainment industry.
