On July 9, GMA Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes revealed that she got bullied into becoming a ‘Battle of the Judges’ judge.
At the media event for ‘Battle of the Judges,’ Gozon-Valdes cited that GMA Network SVP for Entertainment Group Lilybeth Rasonable was one of the choices to take on the judging role in the Kapuso show.
“Actually, si Miss Lilybeth ‘yung dapat maging judge din eh, pinagpipilian rin siya, kaya lang ayaw niya talaga. Tapos parang binully lang ako during the meeting, na parang, ‘Ikaw na, ikaw na. Ha talaga? Ang dami kong ginagawa. Hindi ikaw na.’ Tapos wala na akong choice.”
Rasonable backed Gozon-Valdes’ statement, citing that the GMA Network head got bullied into taking the seat as one of the judges in the Kapuso reality competition.
“Totoo ‘yan binully namin siya. Pero, talaga Miss Annette, kailangan talaga ikaw ‘yan wala ng iba, ganyan talaga sa meeting.”
She also maintained they made the ‘right choice’ to cast Gozon-Valdes as one of the judges/mentors to the contestants of ‘Battle of the Judges.’
“Kilala mo naman si Miss Annette, di ba very, ‘Okay.’ Baligtad, pero nakita naman natin ‘yung value ng pag-upo ni Miss Annette sa pag-upo niya sa panel. And you can see how much they’re enjoying themselves, so it was a great choice.”
Gozon-Valdes then discussed how her connection with her fellow judges and the contestants deepened throughout their taping for the reality TV competition.
“Kanina nga sinasabi na lalong lumalim ‘yung relationship namin.
“Kasi ako, na-aattach din ako sa talents nila eh. Sa mga squad nila. Kapag narinig mo ‘yung mga kwento nila, parang ‘yung it doesn’t matter na taga ibang squad siya, na parang maiintindihan mo and you will also root for their talents. Ganon ‘yung nangyayari, kaya eventually nga ‘yung mananalo naman dito, is a process, wherein we all contributed. Lahat kami parang invested doon sa ultimate winner.”
‘Battle of the Judges,’ the new Kapuso reality talent competition, features Bea Alonzo, Boy Abunda, Jose Manalo, and GMA Senior VP Gozon-Valdes as judges and mentors to the 24 contestants vying for their place as the ultimate winner.
Joining the banter-filled interaction of the judges is Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards as the host.
‘Battle of the Judges’ premieres on GMA Network on July 15, every Saturday.
