At the contract signing for the GTV broadcast of ‘It’s Showtime’ last June 28, two of the hosts of the show Anne Curtis and Ogie Alcasid shared emotional speeches dedicated to the executives of GMA Network.
After the video presentation played at the event, event hosts Iya Villania and Robi Domingo made way for the hosts of ‘It’s Showtime’ to give their messages in regard to their collaboration with the network.
Curtis, who used to be under GMA Network, was called first and gave an emotional message expressing her gratitude towards the executives for accepting their show.
She said, “Maraming maraming salamat for giving us a venue to continue our journey in making the madlang people happy and keeping our noontime habit in their homes.”
The actress-host also expressed her excitement in having two media giants, GMA Network and ABS-CBN, collaborate on the show’s endeavors.
“On this day, I can say na ‘G’ na ‘G’! na po talaga kaming lahat as we celebrate this remarkable day of being a Kapamilyang Kapuso so maraming maraming salamat po sa inyo.”
Alcasid, another former Kapuso star, was also called to give his message.
In his speech, he revealed that he was supposedly heading to Qatar that day for a concert with his wife, but he chose to rebook for the next day to be reunited with his former bosses in GMA Network.
“Real talk lang po, true story, I was not supposed to be here today because we have a concert in Qatar with my wife so she flew ahead of me and I rebooked for tomorrow, but I really wanted to be here today for many reasons, one of which gustong-gusto ko pong makita ‘yung mga dati kong mga boss,” he said.
Alcasid added that it was refreshing to see and be reunited with his former bosses at the contract signing event.
He said, “I really wanted to see you again and it’s so refreshing to see you. It’s really really nice to see you.”
Alcasid further shared that he also wanted to be a part of the event to see his current bosses in ABS-CBN who continuously fight for the welfare of their artists.
“I also wanted to be here for my bosses because sila po ang laging nakikipaglaban para sa lahat ng mga kapamilya, para sa’min, sa mga talent, at sa lahat ng mga binanggit ni Vice (Ganda) kanina, ‘yung madlang pipol na sumasabay sa aming lahat kung saan man kami mapunta.”
He also said that he did not want to miss witnessing the big collaboration happening in the event.
“I’m sure narinig niyo na ‘yung kasabihan na, ‘maliit lang naman ang industriya natin,’ nagkikita-kita lang din naman tayo, and today proves that. I think, I believe that more because talagang maliit ang mundo natin sapagkat may mga taong malalaki ang mga puso tulad po ninyo na nag-welcome po sa amin.”
The ‘It’s Showtime’ host concluded his speech: “Sa atin pong mga Kapuso, maraming salamat sa pag-welcome sa aming mga Kapamilya. God bless us all, thank you very much.”
Both Curtis and Alcasid were former talents of GMA Network. At the start of her career, Curtis signed with GMA and appeared in different GMA series such as ‘Ikaw Na Sana,’ ‘Beh Bote Nga,’ ‘Anna Karenina,’ and ‘Idol Ko si Kap.’
In 2004, she made a big decision to transfer to ABS-CBN from GMA Network and has stayed with the network since then.
Alcasid, on the other hand, was initially under ABS-CBN where he had his first television appearance as a host of a comedy show. He eventually transferred to GMA Network in 1995 where he became one of the main stars of ‘Bubble Gang.’
He also became a host of different GMA shows such as ‘Celebrity Duets: Philippine Edition’ and ‘SOP Rules.’ Alcasid also got his big break on his first drama series, GMA’s ‘Hanggang Kailan.’ In 2013, he left GMA and transferred to TV5 before returning to ABS-CBN in 2016.
