On May 18, XOXO member Lyra addressed whether the group feels intimidated by newcomers, particularly those from ‘The Clash.’
Lyra Micolob debuted as a member of the Kapuso girl group XOXO in August 2019 alongside her co-contestants, Riel Lomadilla, Dani Ozaraga, and Mel Caluag, after appearing in the first season of The Clash in 2018.
Micolob stated at the media presentation for XOXO’s new peppy song, ‘Go Lang ng Go,’ which LionhearTV covered, that each group and artist offers their audience their own talent.
The talent expressed, “Actually hindi naman kami nathre-threatened, actually parang alam naman namin sa sarili namin na lahat naman unique di ba? So unique din ‘yung ino-offer namin na talent, and we should not compare naman kung ano ‘yung kakayanan namin sa kanila or kakayanan nila.”
She also pointed out how treating their colleagues with kindness and humility would help them remain in the entertainment industry.
She also acknowledged that while the Kapuso Network continued to add more artists, what was of importance was showcasing their talent as a group.
“Hindi naman maiiwasan na may mga bagong artist na darating kasi siyempre marami namang talented na pwedeng ipasok sa GMA, but ang importante lang, is patuloy lang ‘yung pag-showcase kung ano ka talaga at ano ‘yung talent mo.”
She then asserted that their group would remain strong and continue to share their music with their fans and Kapuso audience.
Micolob added, “Siyempre kaming XOXO, we will not be shaken, hindi kami matitibag kung ano man ‘yung mga bagong artist. We will still share our talents with you guys, kung ano man ‘yung binigay ni Lord sa amin. Of course, may bago namang learnings na darating niyan, na pwedeng ipakita sa inyo.”
XOXO (Riel, Dani, Lyra, and Mel) releases the group’s newest upbeat Filipino single, ‘Go Lang ng Go’ (GLNG), under GMA Music, on May 26 via digital streaming platforms. There is a pre-order period for iTunes from May 19 to 25.
