On June 10, Kapuso star Vin Abrenica reacted to people calling him a better actor than his brother Aljur Abrenica.
At the media conference for ‘The Revelation,’ Vin clarified that while he felt flattered by the comments from critics, it hurts him being compared to his brother.
“Well, honestly, for me– thank you to the people who think that way, but super– it’s really flattering, but at the end of the day talaga, he’s my brother. Maybe you could say na, ‘Hoy, you’re a good actor.’ But masakit na masabi na mas magaling ka compared sa taong–itong taong ‘to, he’s my brother at mahal ko siya.”
He also attested to the acting talent of Aljur, noting that his brother is one of his inspirations.
“I’m just being honest, and pouring my heart. I’m flattered but at the same time may kurot siya sa akin. Kasi he’s a really, really good actor, isa siya sa mga naging inspirasyon ko, I grew up watching him, watching all of his movies, from nag-start siya up to now. So isa ako sa fan niya.”
He then shared what it was like working with Aljur in their upcoming film.
“Honestly, ‘yung mga disadvantage talaga ‘yung iniisip ko noong una, kasi alam mo ‘yun, you’re too comfortable, which is it turned out to be an advantage kung nagkaroon kami ng eksena. Everytime na magkakaroon kami ng eksena ni kuya, which is super weird, para sa akin sobrang sarap na ka-eksena ko sila, kasi parang– yes totoo kasi as an actor, as your craft, kailangan preparado ka.”
Vin cited how being comfortable as siblings helped them with their scenes.
“Pero dito, it’s more comfortable, mas buo ‘yung emotion, kasi sa sobrang dami ng pinagdaanan ninyo sa buhay ninyo, napakadali na lang humugot. Halos napagdaanan na namin lahat in our life, in our lifetime. Sa mga eksena, napakadaling humugot from our real life stories. Mas madali, mas naging comfortable, and mas buo ‘yung every scene na ginawa namin.”
As for their upcoming film, Vin and Aljur Abrenica star in the co-production of House of Prime Films and Hand Held Entertainment Production, ‘The Revelation,’ with Jelai Andres and Ana Jalandoni.
‘The Revelation,’ a story created by Joyzell Dulay and produced by Kate Javier, follows the story of Vincent, head of the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation), as he goes after a serial killer on the loose.
Under the direction of Ray An Dulay, ‘The Revelation’ opens in cinemas this June 21.
