In a recent social media controversy, Filipino actress and comedian Kakai Bautista faced derogatory comments from social media influencer Rendon Labrador.
However, her close friend, Tuesday Vargas, swiftly came to her defense, condemning the derogatory remarks and shedding light on society’s harmful beauty standards.
The controversy unfolded on June 5 when Bautista took to her Facebook account to assert her independence, emphasizing that she doesn’t rely on a romantic partner for happiness, but rather seeks financial stability. Her empowering post resonated with numerous netizens, including Labrador, who chose to respond with a disrespectful comment targeting Bautista below the belt.
As a friend and fellow artist, Vargas felt compelled to defend Bautista’s honor and took to her own Facebook account to address Labrador’s uncalled-for remarks.
Starting with the words, “Usapang Ganda at Pera”, Vargas called out Labrador’s repeated attacks on Bautista, expressing her disappointment at his continued disrespect. Vargas also took the opportunity to shed light on the toxic beauty standards prevalent in society, encouraging everyone to rethink their perspectives on beauty.
“Usapang Ganda at Pera.
Vargas proceeded to delve into the prevailing toxic standards and societal norms that afflict our present-day society, with a sincere intention to foster understanding and redefine the notion of beauty for all.
Ikaw ba anong work mo? Magkano swelduhan dyan?’
Let us normalize minding our own business and reserve judgement on the decision making capacity of everyone we talk to. “Kaya kung walang jowa, gusto career muna- DAPAT WALA KANG PAKI ALAM DOON.
“2. Money is energy. So respect other people’s hustle. Basta marangal, pinaghihirapan nila at walang naapakan, again dapat: WALA KANG PAKI ALAM DOON.
“Minding your own business, at its heart, is focusing on what you can control and letting go of what you can’t. It is taking responsibility for your own thoughts and actions, and letting other people take responsibility for their own thoughts and actions.”
Vargas ended.
