The new record came just a day after the top-rated Kapamilya show obliterated the record it set through its pilot episode, last February 13.
FPJ’s ‘Batang Quiapo’ fever lives on! The primetime series featuring the one and only Primetime King and King of Teleserye, Coco Martin, looks poised to go upward both in the rating and concurrent viewership games, as events in the series take mind-blowing turns.
That means major conflicts are either resolved or escalating into even bigger wars in the future. Looming on the horizon is the confrontation between Tanggol (Coco Martin) and his biological father, Ramon Montenegro (Christopher de Leon).
Titled ‘Greg’, the episode last night, May 30, confirmed the departure of RK Bagatsing’s character from the show. The previous episode saw a fierce and bloody gunfight between Greg’s forces and Tanggol’s group. The rain of bullets Tanggol hurled at Greg ensured the last nail was struck in Greg’s coffin. But given the twists and turns dramas like FPJ’s Batang Quiapo tend to pull off, it won’t be surprising if Greg actually survived. Did he really? Only future episodes can tell.
The anticipation for such a gripping episode was well-reflected in the dramatic increase in live concurrent viewers on Kapamilya Online Live, from the previous night. From more than 394,000 last May 29, 40,000 more joined the craze to push up the total to more than 435,0000. On YouTube alone, more than 408,700 people glued their eyes to the screens of their smart TV sets and gadgets. Another 26,700 tuned in to the record-breaking episode via YouTube. In comparison, the rival TV show, ‘Voltes V Legacy’ barely hit 2/25 of Batang Quiapo‘s concurrent viewership, drawing 33k viewers from YouTube and Facebook.
As far as TV ratings are concerned, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo is statistically tied with the current leader, Voltes V Legacy. According to rating provider Nielsen Philippines, the heavily-budgeted Kapuso series edged out the Coco Martin-starrer with a meager 0.1 lead.
