After the resignation of TVJ (Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon) from TAPE Inc., the new season of Eat Bulaga! premiered on June 5, introducing a fresh lineup of hosts. Paolo Contis, Cassy Legaspi, Mavy Legaspi, Betong Sumaya, Buboy Villar, and Alexa Miro, rumored girlfriend of presidential son Sandro Marcos, were selected as the replacements for the show’s long-standing mainstays.
However, the changes in their beloved show did not sit well with everyone.
“Some netizens commented that the set design resembles a carnival,” remarked one social media user.
“Nothing can compare to the original,” added another, expressing the sentiment of holding onto the legacy of TVJ.
Others expressed their dissatisfaction by saying, “The hosts are boring… I miss TVJ and JoWaPao… It’s stressful to watch.”
These were the common reactions of viewers after watching the latest episode of Eat Bulaga! Some even suggested that the show should consider changing its name as it no longer captured the essence they had grown to love. Comparisons were made to Sunday PinaSaya, a Sunday variety show also aired by GMA.
Furthermore, negative comments targeting the new hosts, particularly Paolo Contis, flooded social media.
In the midst of the criticism, JV Ejercito tweeted, “Maybe they should provide name plates for the other talents.”

Lolit Solis, Paolo Contis’ manager, took to social media to defend the actor, stating that Contis was simply following the orders of his superiors and accepting every job assigned to him. Solis described him as “a dedicated soldier following his superior’s commands.”
According to Solis, even Contis was taken by surprise when given the opportunity to host Eat Bulaga! As a lifelong fan of the TVJ trio, he never expected to surpass their performance. The manager added, “It’s just work; nothing personal.”

While there were those who expressed their disapproval, some netizens encouraged others to accept the changes and give the new hosts a chance. Additionally, there were comments reminding the public not to direct their frustrations at the new hosts, as they were simply caught up in the TVJ-TAPE feud and were victims themselves.
