The new hosts of the revamped Eat Bulaga! were put into an awkward situation on live TV after one of their lucky contestants thanked and acknowledged Eat Bulaga!’s original trio, Tito, Vic, and Joey.
In the live episode of Eat Bulaga! on Tuesday, June 13, two of the new hosts, Isko Moreno and Buboy Villar, took to the streets for the “G sa Gedli” segment.
In the segment, they approached selected drivers and awarded them cash prizes.
They chose a tricycle driver and rode with him on his tricycle. Isko and Buboy engaged in a conversation with the tricycle driver, asking about his work and family. After that, they handed the driver an instant 10,000 pesos.
“May tulong sa’yo ang Eat Bulaga…anong masasabi mo sa Eat Bulaga?” Isko asked the driver.
“Maraming maraming salamat po sa Eat Bulaga lalo na kela Tito, Vic, and Joey,” the tricycle driver replied.
Isko quickly managed to salvage the awkward situation by saying, “Oh, ‘yun. Tito, Vic, and Joey, mga nakasama natin nung araw, hinding-hindi natin malilimutan. Pero ngayon, ang bagong Eat Bulaga lagi mo ba kaming sasamahan?”
The driver then replied, “Opo, opo. Lagi po kaming nanonood ng pamilya ko.”
Following this, Isko gave him an additional 3,000 pesos.
For 44 years, Eat Bulaga! and TVJ have been synonymous with each other. However, on May 31, 2023, TVJ parted ways with its producer, TAPE Inc., due to internal conflicts.
Following their resignation, the owners of TAPE released a statement assuring that Eat Bulaga will carry on without TVJ.
However, with this recent incident, it’s evident that the strong connection between TVJ and Eat Bulaga is still there, even though the noontime show has already been rebranded.
