Former Senator and one of the original ‘Eat Bulaga’ hosts, Tito Sotto mentioned that more people watched Maine Mendoza’s Facebook Live than the replay airing of Eat Bulaga! on GMA Network.
During his interview with Julius Babao and Tintin Bersola on One News PH on June 1, the former senator stated that viewers were more focused on Maine Mendoza’s Facebook Live during their recent announcement about their separation from TAPE Inc.
“Ang nakakatuwa kasi, yung air TV ng channel 7… kung tutuusin lampaso sa FB Live ni Maine Mendoza…Nung nag FB Live si Maine, natabunan na lahat ng channel 2, channel 5 channel 7 at that particular time.”
Tito Sotto mentioned how #MaineMendoza's FB Live got more viewers than that EB episode even if the latter was aired on national television. He explained that TAPE Inc. do not have rights to use any Eat Bulaga social media page. We must still follow the pages until further notice. pic.twitter.com/VAfe1GgWVn

On Wednesday, May 31, Tito, Vic, and Joey surprised viewers by announcing their departure from TAPE Inc. It comes after months of speculation about their internal conflict with the company’s current management, which apparently wasn’t resolved.
TAPE Inc., meanwhile, seemed unfazed, saying they would continue the show with or without the original hosts. This is according to the official statement they released after TVJ’s announcement.
“Aasahan ninyo ang mas masaya, mas nakakaaliw, at higit pa sa isang libo’t isang tuwa na Eat Bulaga. Ang pag-alis ng hosts ay hindi dahilan para tumigil ang pag-ikot ng mundo,” said TAPE Inc. president and CEO Jon Jalosjos Jr. and Director of Finance Bullet Jalosjos.
