Known for their originality and artistic brilliance, the so-called ‘P-POP’ Kings underscored their goal to preserve the sanctity of their craft.
Freedom is what keeps SB19 inspired to do original music. During the press launch of their groundbreaking new EP ‘Pagtatag’ last June 9, SB19 made sure that the public understood clearly why they needed to start navigating their own career. The new extended play marks the group’s foray into self-management and greater autonomy via 1Z Entertainment, their own company.
Josh Cullen, the 29-year-old lead rapper and sub-vocalist of the group, clearly articulated how self-management sort of equips them to ensure that their artistry is their own and that they look at their craft as sacred.
“It’s refreshing and exciting to explore this kind of field because, for us, we value our craft so much na alam mo ‘yun, parang kahit may konting magalaw, super sensitive ‘yung group, kasi ganon namin talaga tinitingnan ‘yung craft namin na ‘sacred ito’,” he told the press.
“Now that we have the full control, the full capacity, and even the manpower I think we can now freely express at mas mama-maximize pa namin ‘yung ginagawa namin before, and that will really help to syempre, parang push boundaries and mag-achieve ng greater heights, not just for us, but for the whole OPM industry,” he added.
Cullen acknowledges that their path is not something they can navigate with ease.
“This is not an easy path, sa totoo lang. It’s a big risk that we’re taking right now, but I hope na magkaron siya ng magandang output at inspiration to a lot of people that want to challenge the market and grow the industry,” he shared, noting the group’s aspiration to become instrumental in changing the industry’s landscape for the better.
The release of ‘Pagtatag’ comes ahead of the group’s brand-new World Tour, which is already their second after last year’s Where You At Tour.
