Filipino comedian, actress, and beauty queen, Herlene “Hipon” Budol, is eagerly awaiting the release of her much-anticipated television series, “Magandang Dilag,” on GMA Network.
Initially scheduled for release last February 27, the series faced delays due to Budol’s participation in the Miss Planet International pageant last year, and she encountered unfortunate minor accidents during the taping. However, the talented actress is now thrilled about the upcoming release of “Magandang Dilag” in June 2023.
Directed by Jorron Lee Monroy, “Magandang Dilag” is a revenge drama series set to captivate viewers on GMA Network. Budol will portray the character of Gigi, sharing the screen with popular Kapuso actors Benjamin Alves and Rob Gomez as her leading men.
During the first taping of the series, despite initial concerns from the director regarding prosthetics, veteran Filipino actress Sandy Andolong, who plays Budol’s mother in the show, already showed admiration for the young actress due to her sincerity and lack of pretension.
In a recent interview with Lars Santiago on GMA’s “Chika Minute” program, Budol expressed her excitement about the forthcoming TV series, which will showcase her exceptional acting talent.
“Kasi binigay ko po ‘yung best ko dito, siyempre lahat po ng artista, mga beterano, solid po talaga, ‘yung mga hindi ko nakakasama, unexpected na mangyari, nangyari ho talaga” Budol proudly exclaimed.
Budol also revealed that she felt a sense of exhilaration during her kissing scenes with her leading men, Alvez and Gomez.
“Feeling ko ho dalagang-dalaga ako. Basta sobrang sarap sa feeling, may kumi-kiss sa aking artista, kinikilig ho akong totoo”. Budol said.
One of the standout and unforgettable moments for Budol in the series was her intense confrontation scene with renowned Kapuso actress Chanda Romero. Budol confessed that she felt both excited and nervous about choking Romero’s character, considering her own humble background.
“As Herlene ‘Hipon’ Budol, taga doon lang sa amin, taga slaughterhouse, sasakalin ang isang Chanda Romero? Sino ba naman ang hindi mae-excite du’n?” Budol shared, expressing her gratitude and apologies to the respected actress for the intense scene.
Herlene “Hipon” Budol first rose to prominence in 2019 through GMA’s variety game show, “Wowowin,” hosted by Filipino TV personality Willie Revillame. She caught the public’s attention after participating in the show’s segment, “Willie of Fortune.” Impressed by her talent and comedic skills, Revillame made her a regular co-host on the show.
In 2021, Budol participated in Bb Pilipinas and secured the first runner-up position. She then ventured into the Miss Planet International pageant in Uganda but eventually withdrew from the competition due to concerns over its legitimacy. Undeterred, she now plans to join Miss Grand International Philippines to pursue her dream of becoming a beauty queen.
As Budol’s debut TV series nears its release, audiences can expect to witness her exceptional acting skills alongside renowned and award-winning actors and actresses.
