This year’s Miss Manila took home a hefty Php1 million-peso grand prize, a roundtrip ticket to an international destination of her choice, and several special awards—each entitling her to additional cash prizes.
The 18-year-old Fil-Am from Malate, Gabrielle Lantzer, was crowned the new Miss Manila during the pageant’s coronation night at the Metropolitan Theater last June 24, 2023. She bested out 19 other stunning beauties from different districts of the nation’s capital city. Manila Mayor Honey Lacuña graced the coronation event and even crowned Lantzer herself.
As this year’s winner, Lantzer took home a cash prize of Php 1,000,000 and a roundtrip ticket to any Philippine Airlines destination of her choice. Instrumental to her victory was her impressive response to the killer question asked to all the final 5 contestants of the pageant.
“A day of change,” she said, when asked what slogan would she want to adopt for the city’s founding anniversary celebration, noting the many changes that the city went through and withstood throughout its more than 400 years of being a city. She told the press that she could barely remember what she answered during the final question-and-answer portion and said that she just uttered what her heart urged her to say.
Other than Lantzer, Miss Paco Angela Okol also got her crown as Miss Manila Tourism 2023, while Miss Sta. Mesa Anna de Mesa was declared Miss Manila Charity 2023. Francine Tajanlangit from Roxas Boulevard and Karen Nicole Piccio from Pureza, Sta. Mesa, were recognized as second and first runners up, respectively.
Lantzer took home several major and minor awards as well, including Miss EW Medica Manila, Best in Swimsuit, and Best in Evening Gown. Hanna Cruz from Sampaloc was named Miss Philippine Airlines, which entitles her to free roundtrip tickets to local Philippine Airlines destinations of her choice.
