During a heartfelt interview on fellow comedian Ogie Diaz’s YouTube channel, Boobay, a Filipino host and comedian, candidly discussed her fears of facing limited job opportunities and the potential repercussions of her health condition. She openly expressed concerns about the possible decline in projects, events, and concert invitations as she continues to grapple with her ongoing health challenges.
On June 15, Boobay shared her apprehensions during the interview, but also demonstrated her unwavering faith in God and her decision to entrust her worries to a higher power.
“Meron, may fear. Pinapasa-Diyos ko na lang talaga,” Boobay said.
“I’m sure, sabi ko, ‘si Lord naman nakakaalam kung ano’ng dapat,’ kung ano’ng deserve ko and at the same time, kung alam niyang mayroon pa akong ilalabas, maishe-share,” she added.
Boobay’s health condition sparked concerns among fans and netizens when she suffered an absence seizure during an interview with Boy Abunda on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” in April. This incident raised valid questions about the potential implications for her career trajectory.
During the conversation with Diaz, when inquired about the possible impact of her health condition on her professional advancement, Boobay candidly acknowledged that it could indeed pose a hindrance.
“Siguro… At some point, I’m sure ‘yung iba magaano na parang ‘ay, kukunin ko pa ba ‘yan?’ parang ganun,” she replied.
However, Boobay reassured everyone that she is determined not to let the trust and opportunities bestowed upon her go to waste. She emphasized the significance of prioritizing adequate rest to ensure the delivery of exceptional performances.
“Masyado rin ako maging sensitive. Parang kung kailan may show, kailangan rest din talaga, 100 percent rest ka para talaga makapagbigay ka ng performance na deserve nila at hindi mangyari ulit ‘yung di inaasahan,” Boobay shared.
In spite of the hurdles, Boobay joyfully shared the news of her imminent comeback to “The Boobay and Tekla Show,” her show alongside comedian Tekla. She eagerly awaits the green light from her neurosurgeon before resuming her work commitments.
“Ilang linggo na lang ay babalik na po ako dahil binigyan na ako ng go-signal ng [neurosurgeon ko] na makakabalik na sa work. ‘Kasi ‘yun naman talaga ang request nila, pag may letter, may clearance na, go na ulit kasi five years na ang The Boobay and Tekla Show,” Boobay shared with enthusiasm.
Boobay has established herself as a prominent figure in several GMA News and Public Affairs shows, notably as a co-host on the widely acclaimed “The Boobay and Tekla Show.” This program, which airs every Sunday at 10:40 PM, highlights the remarkable comedic chemistry between Boobay and Tekla. Despite grappling with health concerns, Boobay maintains an unwavering determination to conquer challenges and persist in bringing joy and entertainment to her devoted audience.
