As TVJ and the beloved hosts of the long-running noontime show, ‘Eat Bulaga’ bid farewell on May 31, new hosts have replaced them.
However, due to the backlash they received online, influential figures like Senator JV Ejercito and Filipino talk show host Cristy Fermin are now suggesting that TAPE Inc. put nameplates on these new talents.
On Monday, June 5, TAPE Inc. aired the highly anticipated new ‘Eta Bulaga’ introducing new hosts such as Filipino actors Paolo Contis and Betong Sumaya. However, the current era of Eat Bulaga faced immediate backlash and online bashing, targeting both the production company and the new hosts.
One tweet expressed the sentiment, “#EatBulaga trended with hatred tweets and bashings on the new hosts. “Sad! Nadamay pa new hosts while in fact, nagtatrabaho lang sila. IT’S THE FAULT OF THE NEW MANAGEMENT OF TAPE THAT WE LOSE THE HEART OF @EatBulaga – ITS HOSTS AND THEIR WORK. Change its name, please! “ A netizen tweeted.

Amidst mixed reactions to the new Eat Bulaga, Fermin suggested that nameplates might be necessary to familiarize the audience with the new talents.
“Ano ang sabi ng ating mga kababayan, ‘yon ba ang sinasabi nilang higit pa sa isang libo’t isang tuwa na ibibigay nila, eh ni hindi nga namin alam kung sino ang isasalang nila,” Fermin stated.
Echoing Fermin’s sentiment, Senator JV Ejercito took to Twitter and wrote, “The “new” Eat Bulaga! Parang kailangan nila lagyan ng name plates ang ibang talents. Mahirap ata tapatan TVJ, Alan K, Pao, Jose & Wally, etc… Eat Bulaga is really TVJ.”

However, Ejercito’s suggestion received a mixed response from netizens, with one user throwing shade at him, saying, “Sen @jvejercito kaysa naman sa Senado , may sikat pero walang silbi . Oppppps hindi po ikaw ang tinutukoy ko .”

With the airing of the new ‘Eat Bulaga’ on national television, the new hosts are now facing criticism and bashing online. As a result, some influential individuals in the Philippines believe that introducing nameplates for new talents would help address the audience’s concerns. Nevertheless, as the issue continues, fans of TVJ and loyal supporters of the previous hosts eagerly await the next show that will soon grace the national television screens.
