On June 26, actor-Congressman Arjo Atayde revealed how he and his business partners established the Inasal Republic.

At the press event for The Inasal Republic, which LionhearTV covered, Atayde recounted coming up with their business idea after his business partner director Richard Somes served Inasal on the last day of taping for their project ‘Topakk.’

“Si Direk Richard (Somes) has been a friend naman talaga. But obviously, our depth of relationship has gone better and deeper because of Topakk. We we’re doing Topakk, and doon ko na-discover sa Topakk, noong last day, katulad ng kinukwento ko kanina, on the last day itself talaga, kumain na kami ng dinner, busog na busog na ko.

“And then bigla na lang nagpalabas ng sobrang daming Inasal sa lamesa, eh long table kami noon. ‘Yung production, nandoon sila noon, parang last supper ‘yung dating eh. So nandoon lahat ‘yung food, nandoon lahat ‘yung ano, so we’re celebrating the last day of work and then the Inasal comes in late, pero what caught my attention was the whole table nag-react sa Inasal.”

He then recounted how they worked on the business six to seven months after their discussion.

“So I had to try, sabi ko, ‘Oy ano ‘to.’ Tapos noong tinikman ko, truth be told, it’s really, really good. Tapos sabi ko, ‘Sinong nag-luto nito?’ Tapos si Direk pala nagluto nito. And then we had a conversation, I was telling him, I’m into Inasal what if we turned this into a business. Not knowing, he’s very much interested in partnering.

“So nag-fall into place, and we did six-seven months of working and studying for the products to give good quality, to be on par obviously doon sa competition, if any competition there would be, to each his own, definitely. We would serve anything, from garlic, from the oil, to the soy sauce, to suka, to the ingredients, coming from Bacolod.”

As for their business, Inasal Republic offers a fantastic menu offering the ‘juiciest’ authentic Bacolod Inasal chicken for as low as Php 185.

As for the business partners, Atayde, Somes, Gabby Atayde, Ivan Villamar, and Mark San Diego will open Inasal Republic’s very first satellite branch at 25 West Avenue in Quezon City by July 15.

They also aim to establish other satellite branches in strategic locations throughout the Philippines in the coming months.
