Popstar Royalty Sarah G. thanks Teacher Goeorcelle Dapat-Sy and the G-Force group for contributing to her 20 years in showbiz.
This is despite the dance group’s non-appearance at her 20th-anniversary concert held at the Araneta Coliseum on May 12, 2023.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News’ Mario Dumaual on May 16, Sarah G. thanked the G-Force for being a big part of her entertainment career.
“Salamat, salamat po. Syempre malaking bagay po sila ng career ko. It would have been more magical if they were there,” Geronimo said.
“I wanted them to be there to celebrate 20 years with me… Baka maiyak ako. Ayun salamat po,” she added.
Geronimo’s statement came after Teacher Georcelle shared her happiness with the popstar royalty’s career path as a concert director and performer.
In her interview with Mario Dumaual after G-Force’s It’s Showtime guesting on Tuesday, May 16, Dapat-Sy said, “It’s also like giving her creative freedom. Sixteen years kaming magkatrabaho, parang love team. But we have to grow and experience others. The bottom line is, I want her to feel good about that process.”
Meanwhile, in a message sent to comedian and talent manager Ogie Diaz, which he shared on his vlog on Sunday, May 14, Dapat-Sy explained their non-appearance at Geronimo’s concert.
According to the celebrity choreographer, it was a matter of artistic differences, which is why she decided to pull out G-Force for Popstar Royalty’s 20th-anniversary concert.
“Walang side nila or side ko. Isa lang ang mithiin ng lahat…support SG in her 20th year. SG is 35 years old. We’ve been training her, and G-Force has been dancing with her for 16 years. She’s looking for growth as an artist and as a person. She wants to try other things. There were artistic differences, and I want to support her as she embarks on this new chapter, even if it means stepping out for a while. Mama Ogs, I did everything out of love and respect for her as an artist and a friend. Parang love team kami for 16 years, but this year gusto niya to try other things,” said Teacher Georcelle.
She concluded, “This process was painful for G-Force. Most of them cried especially the choreographers, who have been training hard to bring out the best in her. It’s like a breakup. SG wants something else; I want her to exercise that artistic freedom. But it’s also my right to exercise my artistic freedom. I had to pull out two months ago, in March. Of course, my team will always understand and respect my decision. This is me encouraging SG to experience that creative freedom and to be the ultimate decision-maker in producing and directing her 20th-anniversary concert.”
