On April 25, actor-director Ricky Davao detailed what made Seed of Love different from other Kapuso series.
At the media conference of Seed of Love, which LionhearTV covered, Davao highlighted how their series could present a different perspective on the theme of in-vitro fertilization.
“We talk about dito ‘yung invitro, ini-introduce natin dito, although it’s not a new thing, but palagay ko sa larangan ng teleserye, medyo bago-bago ito at malaki ang– ang audience dito ay magkakaroon ng bagong perspective pagdating sa bagay na ‘yun na pwede ka palang makabuo ng pamilya using this old technology.”
He also recounted stories from his friends who benefited from the medical procedure as a testament to the value of tackling in-vitro fertilization.
“Siguro mga 25 years na ‘to. Mayroon akong mga kaibigan na they went to Singapore twice, in the span of two years, hindi nabuo, but in the third year, nakabuo sila and ‘yung anak nila ngayon is married na at may apo na sila. So, pwede pala ‘yun at hindi kasi masyado napag-uusapan ‘yun, marami akong kakilala na hindi nila alam ‘yun so ito malaking bagay ang makukuha nila dito sa Seed of Love watching this.”
He also emphasized how their creative team ensured that the plot for Seed of Love would remain appealing to the production and viewers.
“‘Yung kwento, hindi naman siya kakaiba, ang ano nito, drama, love story na may agawan, pero hindi ko naman masasabi na– I’m not sure kung bago ito o ano, pero ‘yung mga problems na ginawa ng creative team namin, medyo masalimuot, medyo pinahirapan kami how to execute them, kung papaano namin–lalo na ‘yung actors, kung paano nila idedeliver ng — ‘yung kanina na naririnig ko na hindi the usual.”
He then spotlighted the authentic portrayals of the stars of the series.
“Of course, ang guidance lang naman namin dito, is sa actors is dapat kaya natin panindigan ‘yung truth. Dapat ikaw mismo naniniwala, and kapag ikaw mismo naniniwala, automatic na ano na, ang audience maniniwala, tatamaan, mag-re-react, it’s either magalit sila o maawa, madala.”
As for their series, Seed of Love stars Glaiza de Castro, Mike Tan, Valerie Concepcion, Allan Paule, Bernadette Allyson, Tina Paner, Ashley Rivera, Alyana Asistio, and Boy 2 Quizon.
Under the direction of Ricky Davao, Seed of Love premieres May 8 on GMA Network’s Afternoon Prime.
