PLDT and Smart-supported Central Visayan Institute Foundation Dynamic Learning Program (CVIF DLP) has enabled Sophia School in the town of Meycauayan in Bulacan to quickly navigate the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The CVIF Dynamic Learning Program is designed to complement the teaching strategy of the Department of Education. This learning delivery method helps develop independent learners,” said Stephanie Orlino, AVP and Head of Stakeholder Management at PLDT and Smart.
Sophia School had quite a head start. It started implementing the pandemic tested teaching pedagogy back in 2010 for Grades 7 and 10. In 2020, when the global health crisis forced schools to switch to alternative methods of teaching, Sophia School had an existing platform that students and teachers were already familiar with.
“CVIF DLP helped teachers to multi-task since our students can study independently or with little teacher-intervention which gave me more time to improve my CVIF DLP Learning Activity Sheets and prepare the next lesson. I was able to teach two classes simultaneously,” said Lorna Darilag, a teacher of 26 years at Sophia School.
“Our students say they’re more focused on their lessons because of CVIF DLP. They also credit the program for helping them develop time management skills,” added Eleonor Dela Vega, CVIF DLP Lead Coordinator at Sophia School.
Grade 10 student Loraine Angelica Natividad can attest to the benefits of the program, “The CVIF Learning Activity Sheets sharpened my reading comprehension skills. Accomplishing the CVIF DLP LAS before lectures helped me understand the topics better.”
Kristen Claire Labuday, also a Grade 10 student, echoed the sentiment, “Copying the CVIF DLP LAS helps me retain information better since they talk about one specific topic at a time. I also use my CVIF DLP LAS as exam reviewers.”
CVIF DLP has reached more than 1,000 schools around the nation through workshops and has trained over 15,000 teachers since PLDT and Smart started supporting the crisis-resilient program in 2010.
CVIF DLP highlights PLDT and Smart’s efforts to provide access to inclusive quality education for all to help build a ‘MATATAG’ nation. These programs empower and build bridges of collaboration across sectors and communities towards a sustainable future. Furthermore, these projects are in line with helping the nation achieve the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 on Quality Education.
