On April 27, Italian-Canadian actor Nico Locco voiced his view about Filipinas having a relationship with foreigners.
At the media conference for AFAM, which LionhearTV covered, Locco confirmed that he experienced having Filipinas exes, citing that he’s currently in a relationship with a Pinay.
“I’ve had Filipina girlfriends in the past, and it’s an /interesting topic kasi– I mean, going back to the thought na the foreigner’s paying for everything or sugar daddy, I mean if you see a 70-year-old foreigner with a 20-year-old Filipina, you could only assume one thing right?”
He then described the romantic relationship between Filipinas and foreigners as symbiotic.
“But at the same time, that’s a symbiotic relationship, kasi ‘yung foreigner is providing money for the Filipina and the Filipina–he wants to be with the Filipina because he wants to be with a young woman and feel loved and the sweetness by somebody. So it’s a trade.”
He also acknowledged the stereotypes of Filipinos toward foreigners.
“Of course, I’m the other perspective–I’m not Pinoy– I’m a foreigner, so I get all the stereotypes na din about what people think about foreigners na user sila, f*ckboys, cheaters, liars, and all of this stuff.”
He cited examples of successful relationships between a Pinay and a foreigner.
“I mean minsan medyo hurtful sa akin because I’ve had Filipina relationships, I’m in a relationship with a Filipina, and our relationship is really good.
“And you also see mga other showbiz personalities, like Iza Calzado, is married to a foreigner, they have a beautiful marriage, and who have a newborn son. So there are a lot of good examples na din. So I think it really depends.”
He maintained that he’s in a loving relationship with a Filipina.
“I love Filipinas–I’m happy to be in a relationship with a Filipina because Filipinos are very loving, maasikaso, mapagmahal, and para sa amin, a lot of Pinays like being with AFAM or foreigners because we have a different mentality.”
As for their film, AFAM also stars Robb Guinto, Jela Cuenca, Alexa Ocampo, Giselle Sanchez, Katya Santos, PJ Rosario, and Roi Alonte.
Under the direction of Linnet Zurbano, AFAM streams on May 5 via Vivamax, with an early release starting April 29 via Vivamax Plus.
