Michael Pacquiao fell into depression, saying money doesn’t solve all problems.
On May 11, during an interview with TV host Julius Babao, Pacquiao discussed his mental health.
“I would just smile, but deep inside it’s like empty. I was dwelling on it. I was thinking about it too much. Akala ko super big problem na yung depression. I didn’t know where I was going in my life. Naisip ko what would my parents think? Tsaka, what would they think of me doing this? They comforted me. My dad talked to me. We prayed. I felt nice, I felt better.”
Pacquiao said he diverted his attention from boxing and working out and concentrated on music.
Pacquiao was asked what advice he could offer to youth who also face depression by Babao.
“You’re not alone. Yun ang important part. You can talk to someone about what you feel and don’t let feelings determine your choice of action. It’s just a feeling kasi mawala rin naman ang feeling. Yung mali ko, nag-focus ako doon sa sadness.”
Babao also asked Pacquiao about his family’s wealth.
“Funny when people say that. They don’t know talaga. Just because na mayaman kami, wala nang problems ‘cause money doesn’t solve all problems. I still have many problems personally. I’m glad I have people beside me to help me go through it,” he said.
Michael is the son of professional boxer and politician Manny Pacquiao and former politician Jinkee Pacquiao. He is pursuing a music career with original material, releasing his tracks on different music platforms online.
