Matteo Guidicelli opened up on the supposed ‘rift’ between his wife Sarah Geronimo and G-Force choreographer Georcelle Dapat-Sy.
On May 12, Geronimo successfully held her 20th-anniversary concert at the Big Dome. But netizens noticed G-Force’s absence in her concert.
In Guidicelli’s interview on May 15 on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, he shared that collaboration between his wife and G-Force was simply not planned out enough.
“Sarah and Teacher Georcelle have been together for 16 years. Sarah wanted to work with G-Force, dancers, and choreographers to have the synergy of greatness together and I guess things just didn’t get too planned out.
“Sarah wanted to make greatness kung baga, develop greatness, move forward, and produce beautiful things with everybody since day one,” he said.
But Guidicelli hoped that the paths of Geronimo and Teacher Georcelle will still cross in the future.
“But again, at the end of the day hopefully maayos kung ano man ito.
“Bilog ang mundo, bilog ang showbiz, at the end of the day magkakatrabaho pa rin tayo,” he said.
Meanwhile, in a report by ABS-CBN on May 16, Geronimo expressed her gratitude toward her long-time collaborator G-Force. But she was saddened about not having the group perform in her concert.
“Malaking bagay sila ng career ko. It would have been more magical if they were there.
“I wanted them to be there to celebrate my 20 years with me… Baka maiyak ako,” she said.
Teacher Georcelle already released a statement earlier regarding G-Force’s absence from Geronimo’s concert.
She said that G-Force is simply giving Geronimo room to explore and have her creative freedom.
“It’s also like giving her creative freedom. Sixteen years kaming magkatrabaho, parang love team.
“But we have to grow and experience others. Bottomline is I want her to feel good about that process,” the celebrity choreographer explained.
Despite the backlash, Teacher Georcelle believed that people will understand her decision in the future.
“I know it was a shock to many that I pulled out from Sarah’s concert but people will realize soon enough that I did this to protect our craft and the dance industry. Let us respect the artistry our dancers!” she said.
However, rumors also surfaced that Geronimo and Teacher Georcelle’s rift started after G-Force required payment of a PHP 150,000 fee per choreography and intellectual property claims.
