On April 27, Viva artist Jela Cuenca admitted that she agrees with Pinays’ mindset about having kids with AFAMs (A Foreigner Assigned to Manila).
At the AFAM media conference, LionhearTV covered, Cuenca attested to seeing Filipinas and foreigners in romantic relationships in her previous hometowns.
She shared, “Agree naman ako doon, di ba? Kasi sa probinsya talaga, ako kasi from Dumaguete and Palawan, also Mindanao din– tapos noong mga pumunta ako doon dati, parang wala kaming kabarangay na walang kahilera na foreigner na asawa or jowa.”
She then clarified the benefits of Filipinas’ relationships with foreigners.
She pointed out, “‘Yung mga kapit bahay ko, sinasabi nila sa akin na ‘yung foreigner daw nila is sobrang bait, which is true. And sobrang caring, di sila pinababayaan, and ang the best daw doon, ang korona daw doon ay ‘yung magiging anak daw nila kasi sobrang magiging maganda.”
She then confirmed having a foreigner as a romantic partner, citing people’s negative mentality about Filipina-to-foreigner relationships.
She revealed, “Actually, my first boyfriend was a foreigner also, di ba?…Hindi naman kasi lahat ng tao perfect, may mga foreigner din naman na manloloko so parang pa-jackpot-an na lang talaga.”
She then shared her opinion about other Pinays bad-mouthing fellow Filipinas over relationships with foreigners.
“May mga nakikita ako sa Tiktok, parang sinasabi nila na kunwari, ipopost nila ‘yung jowa nilang foreigner, ganon. Parang aahasin noong mga nakapanood, tapos nanakawin nila. Kaya siguro nasasabi na mag-iingat kapwa Filipina I guess. Siyempre, makikita siguro doon ng same Filipina na mukhang okay ‘yung AFAM or pogi ganon, ganon. But it still depends on the AFAM kung papatulan niya yung Filipina or hindi.”
As for their film, AFAM stars Robb Guinto, Cuenca, Nico Locco, Alexa Ocampo, Giselle Sanchez, Katya Santos, PJ Rosario, and Roi Alonte.
Under Linnet Zurbano, AFAM streams on May 5 via Vivamax, with an early release starting April 29 via Vivamax Plus.
