The much-awaited epic showdown of school spirit is set to be seen as broadcast giant GMA Network airs the return of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 98 Cheerleading Competition this Sunday (April 30) at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum and airing on GTV at 2 PM.

Ready to wow the crowd with their heart-pounding routines, in order of performance, are the Golden Stags Cheerleading Squad of San Sebastian College-Recoletos; Mapua Cheerping Cardinals of Mapua University; Altas Perpsquad of University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta; LPU Pirates Pep Squad of Lyceum of the Philippines University; Letran Cheering Squad of Colegio de San Juan de Letran; AU Chiefsquad of Arellano University; JRU Pep Squad of José Rizal University; Benilde Blazers Pep Squad of De La Salle – College of St. Benilde; EAC Generals Pep Squad of Emilio Aguinaldo College; and San Beda Red Corps of San Beda University.

The NCAA Season 98 Cheerleading Competition further inspires more sports enthusiasts to “Achieve Greatness Everyday” following the return of other exciting collegiate sports events including Basketball, Swimming, Track and Field, Volleyball, Beach Volleyball, Online Taekwondo, Online Chess, and the All-Star Basketball and Volleyball Games.

In the last run of the competition in Season 95, the AU Chiefsquad dished out an impressive performance and bested the rest of the competing teams, earning their third straight title in the NCAA Cheerleading Competition. Finishing as first runner-up was the Altas Perpsquad and clinching the second runner-up spot was the Mapua Cheerping Cardinals.

The squad that will claim this season’s cheerleading crown will receive Php 100,000, while the first runner-up and second runner-up will bag Php 75,000 and Php 50,000, respectively.

“GMA Network, through GMA Synergy, is proud to broadcast the NCAA Season 98 Cheerleading Competition this April 30. Like the rest of the NCAA community, we look forward to seeing our favorite collegiate cheering squads back as they go all out with their performances. To all the competing teams, your Kapuso Network wishes you all the best. May you reap the harvest of your hard work and persistence, and may you represent your school well as you showcase your talents and skills in the competition,” said GMA First Vice President and Head of Regional TV and Synergy, and Acting Head of GMA Integrated News Oliver B. Amoroso.

Champion teams and winners of the various sporting events of NCAA Season 98 will also be given their respective awards on Sunday as well. These include this season’s winners in Basketball (Men’s and Juniors), Volleyball (Women’s and Men’s), Volleyball Fiesta (Boys and Girls), Beach Volleyball (Women’s and Men’s), Swimming (Women’s and Men’s), Track and Field, Online Taekwondo (Women’s, Men’s, and Juniors), and Online Chess (Men’s and Juniors).

As NCAA Season 98 draws to a close, Emilio Aguinaldo College turns over the hosting rights to José Rizal University for the upcoming NCAA Season 99.

Synergy Sports host Martin Javier, Kapuso actress Rhian Ramos, and Track and Field star Maureen Schrijvers are the program hosts of the NCAA Season 98 Cheerleading Competition.

Adding fun to the exciting competition are the lively performances by PPOP Generation, VXON, 1st.One, and XOXO.
