The highly-anticipated series–is rumored to begin its television broadcast in July.
The hype for the upcoming launching TV series of the so-called new gen phenomenal love team of Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, a.k.a. DonBelle, is set to even go higher. Several reports suggest the series is also headed to the streaming platform, Netflix, when it makes it television debut in July this year.
While no official statement has been made yet by ABS-CBN, and even Mariano and Pangilinan, such a possibility unleashes massive excitement among fans. With many Filipino viewers having already transitioned to streaming as their primary mode of consuming entertainment, the move will allow viewers to catch the show with more ease and convenience. Such was one of the perks offered by the KathNiel series, 2 Good 2 Be True, when it was also simultaneously airing on free TV and streaming on Netflix Philippines.
Coming on the heels of DonBelle’s successful projects, including their hit launching and sophomore films, Love is Color Blind and An Inconvenient Love, as well as their phenomenal iWantTFC series, He’s Into Her, Can’t Buy Me Love sort of serves as the most important project to allow the sensational Kapamilya pair further take off. It will also provide a sound testament to the onscreen couple’s popularity, which has convinced their management to put their trust in them, in the first place.
As DonBelle is predicted by many to mimic the phenomenal success of prized Kapamilya love team, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, both in television and film, the upcoming series inevitably faces the challenge of duplicating the feat, pulled off by the 2 Good 2 Be True, on Netflix. The series notably held the number one spot among top streamed TV shows on Netflix Phillippines, longer than any other local series made available on the platform.
Produced by ABS-CBN Film Production Inc’s television arm, Star Creatives, Can’t Buy Me Love is reportedly replacing fellow Star Creatives series, The Iron Heart, in July. Comedian Bayani Agbayani and the Optimum Star, Claudine Barreto, are also rumored to be part of the cast.
