The conflict involving key members of Eat Bulaga! and its management is not yet over.
This comes after former senate president and one of the founding members of Eat Bulaga!, Tito Sotto, came out in the media to address several inaccuracies in the statements made by TAPE Inc. Chief Finance Officer and Dapitan Mayor Bullet Jalosjos.
In several interviews with different media outlets published on April 25, Sotto debunked several claims by Jalosjos and revealed some unknown facts about the country’s longest-running noontime show.
Here are the nine shocking revelations of Tito Sotto about Eat Bulaga!
1. Eat Bulaga! doesn’t have financial problems as it continues to earn; it’s the producer, TAPE Inc., that’s having financial woes.
2. Eat Bulaga was [originally] conceptualized by Tony Tuviera with the trio of Tito, Vic, and Joey.
3. TAPE Inc. was not the original producer of Eat Bulaga! but Production Specialists.
4. TAPE Inc. was established in 1981, two years after Eat Bulaga! was born.
5. TAPE Inc. still owed Vic and Joey roughly 30 million pesos in talent fees for 2022 alone.
6. TAPE Inc. earned more than 200 million in net profit in 2021 but still didn’t manage to pay Joey and Vic their salaries.
7. Eat Bulaga!’s 400-million plus worth of political ads in 2022 just vanished and are still unaccounted for.
8. Rumors about forced resignations of talents and staff are true.
9. TAPE Inc.’s payments to GMA Network for its block time fee are sometimes delayed.
Eat Bulaga! has been at the center of controversy for a few months now, following speculations about its rebranding.
Many have thought that Jalosjos’ remarks denying the rumors would finally put to rest the issue, but with Sotto’s latest statements, it seemed far from over.
