Filipino-Chinese actor, model, and vlogger Ken Chan revealed in a press conference on April 17th that his latest film, ‘Papa Mascot’ allowed him to unleash a different side of himself as an actor. He also fulfilled his long-held dream.
Chan was excited to showcase his skills as an actor. He brought to life a story he had dreamed of for a long time.
‘Papa Mascot’ is the second collaboration between Chan and director Louie Ignacio. This is following their first film, ‘Huling Ulan sa Tagaraw’, which was an official selection at the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in 2021.
Sue Prado, one of the cast members of the film, shared how the film is already a success. She said, “Para sa akin, isa sa pinakamagandang bagay na nagawa ng pelikula na ito, is hearing that may mga natupad na pangarap. Yung pangarap ni Ken, at pangarap nung producers to create a good film. – Nung sinabi niya [Ken Chan] na yung kinikimkim niya as an actor na matagal na, dito niya nailabas. For me that alone is a success.”
“Bilang aktor po, masasabi ko na, yes. Nagawa ko po ang gusto kong gawin na hindi ko magawa sa TV,” Ken answered when asked about being freed by the film, ‘Papa Mascot.’
Ken Chan is one of the most versatile actors of his generation, portraying many unconventional roles, including a person with a dissociative identity disorder. He has proven his acting prowess many times, and this time he played a father and an abductor.
Former FDCP chairwoman Liza Dino, Ken’s co-star in the film, praised the actor for exerting much effort to learn and portray his role in the film. She said, “Makikita mo talaga na gigil siya, na he’s hungry, gusto niya talaga matuto.”
‘Papa Mascot’ is set to be released in theaters on April 26th. The film is produced by Wide International, directed by Louie Ignacio, and written by Ralston Jover. Alongside Ken Chan, the cast includes Miles Ocampo, Gabbi Eigenmann, and Erin Rose Espiritu.
