GMA Network actor Ken Chan happily shared that his father is now “cancer free”.
In a press conference last April 10 for his upcoming film, ‘Papa Mascot’ at Café Claus in Tandang Sora, Ken Chan told the media, “Awa ng Diyos, cancer free na po ang aking Tatay. Ngayon limang taon na po ang nakalipas, at hindi na bumalik ang cancer ng aking Tatay. Masasabi ko na po na cancer free siya.”
In 2018, Ken Chan announced on his social media accounts that his father had been diagnosed with esophageal cancer while he was filming his TV series ‘My Special Tatay’.
Esophageal cancer is a type of cancer that affects the lining of the esophagus. It’s a rare form of cancer, but it’s often fatal if not diagnosed and treated early. According to the American Cancer Society, the five-year survival rate for esophageal cancer is around 20 percent.
In fact, if a cancer patient remains in complete remission for 5 years or more, they’ll be considered cancer free. Fortunately, this is the case for Ken Chan’s father, as he shared during the press conference.
Ken Chan’s positive mindset and resilience in the face of hardship continue to inspire many people. His experience has demonstrated the value of family, faith, and optimism in overcoming life’s obstacles.
