The actress clarified that the project remains in the planning stage, saying it will eventually take place in the near future.
Fresh from winning her first Metro Manila Film Festival trophy, Gladys Reyes seems ready to tackle even larger and more ambitious roles in television and film. On the live episode of the morning talk show, ‘Magandang Buhay’ yesterday, April 17, the award-winning actress teased her fans and viewers about what she may be doing next: a big collaboration project with the biggest soap opera queens of the ’90s.
Reyes is known for playing the iconic teleserye character, Clara, in the top-rated ’90s Kapamilya soap opera, Mara Clara. She starred alongside Judy Ann Santos (as Mara), who later became the “Queen of Teleserye”. Reyes and Santos reunited in 2010, via the primetime medical drama ‘Habang May Buhay’.
“Marami kasing nag-request, Siyempre, in the process (pa lang), pero kanina ko pa sinasabi kay Jolens, off-air, na soon, sana po matuloy no, ipag-pray natin yung aming movie with Miss Judy Ann Santos, of course, Jolina (Magdangal), Angelu (de Leon), and Claudine Barretto. Sana, soon. Mga batang ’90s, alam nyo na!” Reyes told the hosts, when Melai Cantiveros.
The MMFF winner even teased fans about which film company should produce the project: “Star (Cinema), beke nemen…”
Asked what plot the film may tackle, she teased, “Syempre mga momshies, di ba? Iba-iba ang mga katauhan alam mo na! Soon, basta, maririnig nila ‘yan ulit! Sana!,” she shared.
Reyes earned the MMFF Best Actress Award for her outstanding performance in the movie “Apag,” which also stars Coco Martin. She also appeared in the rumored festival top-grosser, ‘Here Comes The Groom’.
