Stars and fans came out for the highly-anticipated big-screen debut of what could be the most ambitious project on local television, ever.
Nostalgia was on another level last night, April 18, when GMA Network’s much-talked-about and awaited, a live-action TV adaptation of the ’70s anime classic, Voltes V, hit the big screen. The event pre-empts the show’s television debut on May 8, with the movie edit making waves first in select SM cinemas nationwide, beginning April 19.
Held at SM North EDSA – The Block Cinema 2 and 3, the premiere saw the all-star cast of the show and its showrunners grace the red carpet, with sheer pride and excitement.
Lead cast members, Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Matt Lozano, Radson Flores, and Ralph Landicho, were all present at the event. In addition were supporting actors, Jamir Zabarte, Migs Villasis, Joaquin Manansala, Elle Villanueva, Nico Antonio, Gabby Eigenmann, Neil Ryan Sese, Max Collins, Angela Alarcon, and Sophia Senoron. Martin del Rosario, Liezel Lopez, and Carlo Gonzales came as a trio, and as representatives of the nefarious Boazanian Empire.
Carla Abellana and Dennis Trillo, who play Ned Collins-Armstrong and Mary Ann Collins-Armstrong, respectively, glowed with pride over their special inclusion in this high-profile Kapuso drama.
Showrunners including the director, Mark Reyes, and Kapuso head writer, Suzette Doctolero, were all present.
Starting April 19, fans of the show will see the first three weeks of the series, in select SM cinemas nationwide. This is before it becomes free for everybody on free TV, starting May 8.
