Kapamilya actor Enchong Dee addressed the questions regarding his true sexuality.
Dee recently starred in the film Here Comes the Groom, where his character had a soul swap with Kaladkaren’s character and acted as a gay or transwoman.
Rumors then spread that the actor is gay.
In a statement on Cristy Fermin’s Cristy Ferminute on April 12, Dee said he focuses more on himself than other people’s speculations.
“Ako po kasi lagi kong sinasabi for the past 16 years at alam kong laging usapin din sabi ko kailangan ‘yung pangarap ko mas malaki kaysa doon sa takot ko, e,” he said.
He then talked about the consequences that come with being an actor.
“Ang pangarap ko po kasi makilala bilang isang aktor, dependable na aktor, at yun po ang pinapangarap ko at gusto kong magtagal dito sa industriya na hindi lahat nabibigyan ng pagkakataon ng ganito katagal.
“Kailangan kong tahakin ‘yung daan na hindi nadaanan ng karamihan ng aktor. Kailangan kong labanan ang lahat ng takot na puwede kong katakutan kung gusto kong makilala bilang aktor,” he said.
Dee may have played his gay character in Here Comes the Groom too well, which made netizens question his sexuality.
Meanwhile, Dee got nominated for Best Actor in the 2023 Summer MMFF for his role in the aforementioned film directed by Chris Martinez. Romnick Sarmenta of About Us But Not About Us won the award.
Here Comes The Groom won other awards, like Third Best Picture and Special Jury Prize.
