A major shake-up in Philippine noontime TV is about to happen!
That is, if the ongoing talks about the internal rift on Eat Bulaga! fails and its main hosts Tito, Vic, and Joey decide to bring the longest-running noontime show to another channel.
According to a Bilyonaryo article published on April 4, the noontime trio is currently in talks with Brighlight Productions for a possible airing of Eat Bulaga! on TV5.
In the same article, Tito, Vic, and Joey are said to have given the current TAPE Inc. management headed by the Jalosjos siblings until April 11 to accept their offer to settle the issue over control of TAPE Inc.
If talks failed, the trio asserted that they have the right to the Eat Bulaga! brand. They can take it to another channel like TV5 or NET25, where the three currently have their own different programs in the latter channel.
Early talks with both networks have already commenced, but TV5 seems to be the more enticing choice, especially given the potential for back-to-back programming with It’s Showtime, EB’s once fierce rival in the noontime programming.
EB’s possible transfer to TV5 could also explain the recent friendly exchange between the rival shows’ hosts. On March 31, Joey De Leon and the other Dabarkads greeted Vice Ganda, who was celebrating his birthday.
Vice Ganda, on the other hand, happily thanked the Dabarkads.
He said, “Kay Tito Joey, Sir Joey, maraming maraming salamat..oo binati nila ako doon, ang saya. Mabuhay kayo Eat Bulaga! More years to come. I love you….I love Eat Bulaga! I love you, Dabarkads. Sa inyong lahat dyan maraming maraming salamat.”
Rumors about the internal conflict in Eat Bulaga! surfaced in March 2023.
According to online reports, former Rep. Romeo Jaloslos wanted his business partner Antonio P. Tuviera out of TAPE Inc. to control the program for a possible rebranding without the original hosts Tito, Vic, and Joey.
