The likely response of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board to the Face2Face reboot was discussed by TV5’s COO Dino Laurena on April 17.
Laurena recognized that the previous iteration of the show thrived on confrontations between their guests in the public service program. This was during the media briefing for the upcoming Face2Face, which LionhearTV reported.
Laurena said, “Pinagaralan po namin ng mabuti kung ano ‘yung bagay na kinagigiliwan ng mga manonood no. Masama man pakinggan ‘yung dating pinanggalingan ng Face2Face, ang talagang binabantayan ay ‘yung bangayan.”
He then assured viewers that Face2Face’s reboot would focus on resolution rather than confrontation. He pointed out, “…yung sangkap po ngayon ng Face2Face ay bago. Nilagyan po natin ng resolusyon para ito.”
He then pointed out the relatability of Face2Face as it tackles common grievances among people.
He also detailed their considerations in selecting the hosts for the TV5 program. The COO explained, “So iniisip namin kung sino ‘yung mga host na magiging bago, of course, we want to say that since this is public service, we wanted somebody na tatayo na mayroon ng experyensya sa public service, Mama Karla fits that. Although she is a mother, she has the heart of a mother.
He added, “So why we are adding Alex? What is unique to the Filipino people, socially and culturally, is ‘yung pang-kara-krus talaga natin sa away is humor. Pero, kailangan ‘yung humor, tamang-tama lang ‘yung timpla. At diyan po, alam namin magaling si Alex. Tama ‘yung timpla, para gumaan ‘yung palabas.”
Face2Face aired in 2010, with the program trending because of the in-person confrontations. The TV5 program was previously hosted by Amy Perez from 2010 to 2013 and by Gelli de Belen from 2012 to 2013.
As for Face2Face’s comeback, the reboot of the TV5 show returns on air with new hosts Karla Estrada and Alex Calleja.
Joining them are the new TrioTagapayo Atty. Lorna Capunan, Dr. Love Jun Banaag, with the returning adviser Dr. Camille Garcia.
Under the direction of Frank Lloyd Mamaril, Face2Face airs on May 1 at 11 am via TV5 and Cignal TV.
