The Head Writer of ‘Abot Kamay na Pangarap’, Geng de los Reyes Delgado, detailed how they addressed netizens’ criticisms about the medical drama.
At a media conference for Abot Kamay na Pangarap on March 30th, which LionhearTV covered, de los Reyes Delgado stated that the creative team listens to criticisms to improve their show.
She shared, “Minsan tinatanong din namin ng straight sa medical consultant namin. Pinapakita namin ‘yung actual comment or screenshot, ‘Doc kasama po ba ‘to? Kasi sabi nila ganito rin daw.’ And then mayroon siyang i-explain. And then kunwari kapag may sinabi naman na ganito, ginagawanan naman namin ng paraan na ma-correct siya.”
She then recounted a comment they received from a medical professional who called out one of their storylines in the series.
Geng de los Reyes Delgado narrated, “Naalala ko may isang nag-comment na doctor na parang sino bang doctor ang mag-iisip na maging Chief Resident kasi hindi daw nila pangarap ‘yun. Eh ‘yung characters namin ‘yun ‘yung ine-aim nila. Maging Chief Res.”
She detailed how they asked their consultant to validate the comment. “…then tinanong namin na, Doc paano ba ‘to? And then pina-explain namin kay Doc kung ano ba ‘yung benefits kung bakit ka ba magkakaroon ng, bakit ine-aim ni Annalyn ‘yung pagiging Chief Resident. It’s because of fellowship, yung mga ano sa abroad, mga medical something na parang mas may edge kung Chief Res ka.”
She noted how the creative team honed in on their consultant’s feedback in continuing their main character’s arc in the series.
As for their series, ‘Abot Kamay na Pangarap’ stars Carmina Villaroel, Jillian Ward, Richard Yap, Dominic Ochoa, Dina Bonnevie, Pinky Amador, Andre Paras, Wilma Doesnt, Kazel Kinouchi, Jeff Moses, Dexter Doria, and many more.
