At the media event for the music video launch of their single, ADDA, on March 10, YARA Members talked about how signing with Sony Music Entertainment gave them more confidence as artists.
YARA Rocher highlighted how the established music label helped the group find more confidence in themselves as performers.
“Ito po ‘yung naramdaman namin, parang nagkaroon kami ng confidence in ourselves, kasi kung ‘yung Sony po, nakakitaan po kami ng potential, bakit kami hindi makikinig sa sarili namin. So from there, lalong na-build ‘yung confidence namin, na-motivate kami na i-improve ‘yung skills namin. Lalo na po sa vocals.”
YARA Gelou recounted her reaction when Sony Music Entertainment reached out about signing under the music label.
“I think at first, noong sinabihan kami na interested nga sila sa amin, parang we’re like, Huh, really? Totoo ba?’ Pero, when we had a meeting with them, sobrang exciting ‘yung naging discussion namin kasi hindi rin magiging focus namin.”
She also noted how their views as artists matched with the established music label.
“We will work on what we can do, and they will enhance it, actually parang match made in heaven kasi ‘yung vision nila sa amin as a group and ‘yung vision namin para sa career namin sobrang matched. So sobrang happy kami na kinuha kami ng Sony as their artist.”
YARA Christa noted how the group and the music label immediately clicked.Â
“I guess through our meeting with Sony, noong nagkabatuhan kami ng mga ideas, talagang nakakagulat na ‘yung mga ideas [namin] nag-click siya. As in, ‘yung mga ideas namin parang we’re already seeing na mangyayari in years– in the coming years, so just the bond ng Sony and us, nakaka-grateful siya.”
YARA, the Filipino four-member act, includes members Gelou, Rocher, Christa, and Kim.
