Weekends just got more exciting as the new season of “The Voice Kids” aired its pilot episodes, which accumulated more than 301,734 combined peak concurrent views and clinched the number one spot on Twitter’s trending topics for two consecutive nights (February 25 and 26).
Veteran singer Roselle Nava made a surprise appearance on the show as she came out on stage to support her son Rafa Tan. The mother and son wowed viewers when they sang her iconic song “Bakit Nga Ba Mahal Kita,” which was also her son’s audition piece.
Rafa (10 y.o.), who is from Parañaque joined Martin’s “MarTeam,” along with Patricia Delos Santos (12 y.o.) from Bulacan, and Fabio Santos (6 y.o.) from Quezon City.
KZ Tandingan also started to fill up her “Team Supreme” as she warmly welcomed Summer Pulido (8 y.o.) from Pangasinan, Renzo Niez (11 y.o.) from Aurora, and Aera Castro (11 y.o.) from Laguna.
Meanwhile, John Matthew Bendoy (11 y.o.) from Bulacan, Tin-Tin Marty (12 y.o.) from Zambales, and Chloe Cañega (8 y.o.) from Nueva Ecija joined Bamboo’s “Kamp Kawayan.”
Tin-Tin and Patricia impressed coaches with their blind auditions, who each got three-chair turns, as they sang their own renditions of “Isa Pang Araw” and “Isang Linggong Pag-ibig,” respectively.
Netizens praised the judges and the show on its first weekend run.
“Lalong gumanda kasi ‘yung mga pumalit na judges, Martin and KZ ay magagaling din at makukulit, lalo na si Martin. Swak na swak ‘yung tatlong judges. At ang mga bata, may kanya-kanyang istorya. Sobrang nakaka-touch, nakakaiyak. May aabangan na naman kami tuwing Sabado at Linggo ng gabi. Kudos, ABS-CBN,” said Marilyn Manicar-Tamayo on Facebook.
