On March 16, ‘Kita Kita’ director Sigrid Andrea Bernardo admitted that she felt she could never top the success of her previous film.
At the media conference for ‘Walang KaParis,’ Bernardo acknowledged the pressure and challenge of doing another Al Empoy (Alessandra de Rossi-Empoy Marquez) film.
“About sa pressure, about this movie, iba lang ‘yung sa akin as a director and a writer, lalo na ‘yung previous film na Kita Kita, kasi to be honest, it’s really [a big] pressure on me. That’s why it was [very difficult] for me to decide if [I’m going to] do another Al Empoy film because for me talaga I would never top Kita Kita.”
She then cited her realization about embracing the success of her previous film without feeling the pressure.
She then noted that it took her two years to decide on an original story for their upcoming film, ‘Walang KaParis.’
“So mas ganon ‘yung ano– it took me two years bago makapag-decide, and makaisip ng bagong kwento for them. And I want to show their talents as actors din. Hindi lang ‘yung sa Kita Kita na talent nila as an actor, dito mas nag-level up ‘yung acting nila. So chinallenge namin ‘yung isa’t isa.”
‘Walang KaParis,’ directed by Bernardo, is a co-production of Spring Films and Viva Films; streaming on Prime Video starting March 23.
