On March 13, cult director Roman Perez Jr. clarified Viva’s standpoint about the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board’s initiative for responsible viewing.
At the media conference for ‘SSSSHHH!’ According to Perez, Viva, particularly Vivamax, pushed for self-censorship to comply with MTRCB’s advocacy.
He expressed, “Sakto lang. Ayaw kong sabihing nag-control ang Vivamax o nag-tame ang mga projects, or cinensor namin ‘yung mga sarili namin. Mas self-censorship talaga ang ginagawa ng management.”
Vivamax’s self-censorship push is also something he agrees with. He said, “I agree with them, para hindi na natin siya pag-usapan. Batuhan kami ng ano, ‘yung Vivamax ang batuhan ng lahat ng problems, kapag nagkakaroon ng mga ganitong bagay. So kaya po sakto lang, saktong-sakto lang pero hindi ka mabibitin. Hindi kayo mabibitin.”
Earlier, MTRCB announced its partnership with Viva in practicing responsible self-regulation.
Additionally, COO and president of Viva Films Vincent del Rosario highlighted how the entertainment company observes MTRCB’s initiatives.
Del Rosario pointed out, “I think malinaw naman sa Viva, even before Vivamax, we will always abide sa kung ano ‘yung batas. So whatever is in place, susundin namin. Basta, there’s parity– what applies to us should apply to everybody else, whether they’re a global streaming platform, whether you’re a local streaming platform, dapat pare-pareho.”
He emphasized how Vivamax’s parental control fits with MTRCB’s initiatives.
He concluded,“Very cooperative sa responsableng panonood, di ba? It’s a campaign of the Chairman, so we’re okay. I think Viva Prime addresses some of these concerns. ‘Yung parental controls within the app, malinaw ‘yun. Si Direk Paul is coming up with advocacy on ‘yun, responsible viewing.”
‘SSSSHHH!’ hosted by Salome Salvi features Viva artists such as Amanda Avecilla, Rash Flores, Vince Rillon, Alexa Ocampo, Jeffrey Hidalgo, Arron Villaflor, Chesca Paredes, Aerol Carmelo, Micaella Raz, Quinn Carillo, VR Relosa, and Yen Durano.
A creation of Perez and En Villasis, the four-part podcast-anthology series streams on Vivamax starting March 26.
