International comedian JR De Guzman is ready to share his wit and musicality with his fellow Filipinos as MYX Global brings his hit US show “Later That Evening” to Manila this year.
Named one of Variety’s 10 Comics to Watch in 2022, he is set to serenade audiences with his songs and amuse them with hilarious anecdotes at The Theatre at Solaire on June 3 (Saturday) at 7 pm.
Known for his unique brand of stand-up musical comedy, JR has been making a name on the world stage for his extraordinary gift of entertaining live audiences while introducing Asian culture and conveying his take on racism in his narratives. He was previously featured in the Netflix special “The Comedy Lineup” and Comedy Central’s “Kevin Hart Presents: Hart of the City.”
The Pangasinan-born comic who moved to California at an early age often injects stories about his experiences as a Filipino immigrant growing up in America.
“I just try to tell my personal story. I believe the power of honesty and vulnerability is what allows people to connect with your art,” he said in a previous interview with ANCX. “I talk about immigrating here, I make fun of stereotypes, both by breaking them down, but also acknowledging when they’re true.”
Aside from the US where he is currently on tour for “Later That Evening” until the end of the year, JR has already performed for Stand-Up Tokyo and ROR Comedy in Japan, the Jokers Ball in Indonesia, the Badaboom Comedy Series in Amsterdam, and many other international shows.
The charming entertainer also won in the “Stand-Up NBC” competition in 2016 and was named as a prestigious ‘New Face’ in “Just for Laughs 2017.”
Get ready for a night full of laughter with JR in the “Later That Evening” show happening at the Theatre at Solaire on June 3 (Saturday) at 7 pm. Tickets are up for grabs on www.ticketworld.com.ph and Solaire Box Office Level 2. For more details on the event, follow MYX Global on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, kumu, TikTok, and Instagram.
