Liza Soberano admitted that she got hurt after TV host Boy Abunda expressed his disappointment toward her.
On February 26, Soberano rebranded herself by pursuing what she wanted for herself ever since. She left her home Network, talent agency, and even her manager Ogie Diaz.
On February 28, Abunda then expressed his thoughts regarding Soberano’s latest career move.
He said that Soberano has the right to change management but he can’t help but feel disappointed.
“She has the right to do what she’s doing. It’s a redirection, it’s a rebrand.
“Masakit pakinggan kasi you were working with three of the best directors in this country. At bilang tagahanga, ang gusto kong sabihin, Liza, ang hinangaan namin, hindi ikaw ‘yon? For the last 13 years, ang hinangaan namin, hindi si Liza ‘yon? Because you were saying in your vlog na, ‘I had no say kung ano’ng materyal, kung ano’ng sasabihin ko’” he said.
In an episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on March 10, Soberano admitted that she got hurt by Abunda’s comment.
“Na-hurt ako kasi feeling ko of all people ikaw yung makakaintindi. ‘Cause I see you as one of the wisest in the industry and sa dami ng napagdaanan mo with different personalities parang you always saw things for what they were.
“And parang ang paniniwala ko your judgment isn’t clouded by the noise of the media, by what the fans say, so I felt misunderstood by you,” she said.
But she said that she later understood what Abunda meant.
“But then, noong nag-usap naman kayo ni James and he talked to me after at na-explain niya yung thought process mo about everything and I understood your point, it really did make sense to me,” she added.
Meanwhile, Laurenti Dyogi, ABS-CBN’s Head of TV Production, seemed to accept Soberano’s career decision saying that she is simply finding herself and exploring more options.
“I think because Liza is also, remember she’s still in the first quarter of a hundred years of life. Siguro nag-quaquarterlife questioning siya. So, we allow her to explore and aspire for something better for herself,” he said.
